The
following steps are taken to ensure that only quality flowers are produced
in our greenhouses.
- Healthy plants are the result of a strict climate
control system.
- We have installed a water filtering system
( reverse osmosis) that has enabled us to incorporate recycled irrigation
water and a balanced nutrient solution that Hydroponic Roses thrive
on.
- We use a computerized fertilizer injector that
helps to encourage stronger stems and larger bud size on our flowers.
- We are always working to perfect our flower growing
methods through the latest technologies including hydroponic growing.
Cutting Process
Your high satisfaction is a result of how our
flowers are cut and handled.
- Each flower that we cut is selected at its peak
stage of development by our professional 24 hour staff.
- The flowers are immediately cooled and hydrated to
halt the flowers natural life cycle and begin the preparation for a
long vase life.
- We use a professional hydration product on
the flowers immediately which ensures the flower will hold, open and
perform well.
- Our refrigerator is cleaned daily to provide the flowers
with the best possible post harvest environment.
Grading Process
The grading of a rose is what determines the uniformity
in stem length, bud size, maturity and the quality of a bunch of roses.
Our grading process classifies each bunch of roses into
specific length classifications. Obies demands that our stems, excluding
flower's bud, are the basis of grading:
X Fancy (26" and up)
Fancy (22"-26")
Long (18"-22")
Medium (14"-18")
Short (12"-14")
We train our staff to look at each rose carefully and
group those that are uniform in bud size and development together in one
bunch.
All of Obies roses pass a quality inspection by the
grading supervisor prior to being put into our icebox.
